I. Legal Guidance
On any legal subject matter, you may speak with us once; and have us make one local phone call, or write one letter, to another party involved in the matter. On any legal subject matter, you may have us notarize or witness documents without advice. There is no limit on the number of legal subject matters.
Provided you are named as a party, you may have us review any number of business documents up to 15 pages in length. In most cases, document reviews are handled by phone and fax.
Our role in this section of the Plan is limited to the services described above. In essence, the services are intended to guide you and the subject matter in the right direction. This is why this section of the Plan is called "Legal Guidance". Among other things this means that we have not assumed carriage of the matter and that we have not assumed any responsibility for any time limits (called limitations of actions) that often surround legal matters. What you do after the above services is up to you. Sometimes, you will not want to do anything more. However, if you tell us to perform further legal work, then we will confirm that to you in writing, open a separate file for that purpose, and only when we have done so will our responsibilities extend beyond the services described above. At this point, normal billing will apply, subject to any discounts to which you are entitled.
II. 10% Discount
If you are within a Plan Year for which you have paid, we will provide legal services to you on business matters that initiated subsequent to your purchase of this Plan, at 10% less than our standard rates for fees. Disbursements and taxes are not subject to this discount. This discount is only available on accounts paid within 10 days of being rendered.
III. Cancellation and Reservation
This Plan is automatically and immediately cancelled in the event of non - payment by the applicant.
Either party may cancel this Plan at any time by written notice to the other by mail to the last known address, or delivered in person. Mail from British Columbia shall be deemed received within 14 days. Cancellations shall take effect at the end of the interval for which payment has been made and during which the notice of cancellation was received.
In our sole opinion and discretion, we reserve the right to decline any services under this Plan if the services are inadvisable, inappropriate, place us in a conflict of interest, or are otherwise unsuitable for the practice of law.
